Persistent serial port identifiers for openHAB 3.x

Reliable persistent serial port handling for openHAB 3.x.

This addon is a proof of concept work which is an attempt to solve troubles which comes from Linux serial port handling. Currently, Linux is not able to provide consistent serial port identifiers across restarts. This can lead to situation when /dev/ttyUSB can point to a device which was earlier known as ttyUSB1.

Common advice in such scenarios is to use udev rules. While it solves the problem, it forces user to dive into technical details on how to identify a USB device. To simplify a basic user life this addon does what udev rules do in very limited scope which should satisfy most of the cases. Installation – copy kar to addons folder. Install addon with a “serial2” in its name.
